It does not have a rind and is not aged for a significant amount of time. Besides that, the texture ranges from creamy and spreadable, to soft and pliable and sometimes crumbly. Most fresh cheeses are in tubs or plastic packaging. However, serious cheesemakers use as starter culture because it yields more consistent results and better flavour.
