Hakkaisan Yuki-Muro Chozo Snow Aged 3 Years Sake is a true product of nature. It is naturally chilled and gently aged in a snow storage room for 3 years. This results in a smooth and well-rounded taste, coupled with an elegant aroma and a cleansing finish.

This sake is mature alongside and is chill by a massive amount of snow in the same room. This is a traditional method of storing food at low temperatures, using the abundant snow provided by nature. Hence, it is a tradition in our snowy region of Uonuma for centuries. From the cold of the snow alone, the temperature is naturally stable at 3 degrees Celsius without the use of electricity. After three years, the sake becomes round and very smooth.

The Hakkaisan Yukimuro is a facility where people store winter snow and use them as a natural refrigerator to keep food fresh during the summertime. The Yukimura is usually split into two side by side spaces; snow up on one side, and sake tanks and food items directly next to it. Thus, by using Yukimuro storage, there is no need to use electricity. The natural cold air coming off of the snow alone is what does the chilling. It is therefore an environmentally friendly food storage system.
